The Emperor Swallowtail is an elegant species and part of the Papilionidae family, admired for its bold black wings adorned with creamy white or pale yellow bands, and a graceful set of short tail extensions that give it the classic swallowtail silhouette. With bold black wings marked by creamy-yellow patches and intricate eyespots on the hindwings, the Citrus Swallowtail is both beautiful and easily recognizable. Its caterpillars are commonly found on citrus plants, earning it the name “Citrus Swallowtail.” While considered a minor pest in orchards, it plays an important ecological role as a pollinator and as part of the food web.✨
